We've signed the pledge, have you? Let's get to 200,000 pledgers!

Send us your number and we'll post it too!

Also in the news, Rowling is going to
publish another short story on Pottermore.  This one will
be Halloween-themed and Umbridge will play a role in it.

She's also building Hagrid's Hut on her property to match the Hogwarts-esque treehouses she
has...no joke.
Check it.  I'm not even going to lie - I'm a little jealous.  ;)

And you should vote in the
People's Choice Awards.  At this point, you're voting for the
nominees until Oct. 30.  Next up on Nov. 4 you can vote for the winners.  And not that I'm telling
you who to vote for, but you should write in The Quest at least under Favorite Competition
Show.

And in other side news: there was a Potter kid on Sherlock last night!
Alfie Enoch the kid who

solve.  Way to go, Potter kids!

A little over a week ago my older brother passed away - very suddenly & unexpectedly from a
heart attack.  Today is his birthday.

To our big brother:

We love you.  You will always be with us.   You will forever be a part of this family.  Mommy &
Daddy are heartbroken, but we’ll find a way to get through this together.  You leave behind so
many who loved you for years.  You were blessed with love, as we were all blessed with you.

You were the best big brother a kid could ask for…Danielle got to get in trouble with you, and
you always took the blame for her.  I got sheltered and defended.  We were all driven insane by
you at times, but there isn’t a thing any of us wouldn’t do just to hear you ramble on about cars
or those RC quad copters again.

Thank you for always being there.  Thank you for your
consideration and your toleration.  Thank you for the love
and the fun and the good times.  Thank you for being with
us through the hard times.  And thank you for never really
letting anyone of us down.

You are a collection of random information and special
skills, but you are uniquely and adamantly your own man.

Our hearts are engraved with your name, your voice will be in our ears, and our minds will
forever echo your memory.

I don’t know how to end this, because I can’t say goodbye.  For me, you will always be in
Florida.  Rollerblading to work at the coffee shop, swimming well into the night, biking,
dancing, chasing storms, building cars and copters and light kits, detailing – doing all the things
you love.  Always smiling, never in pain.  Always the smartass, never giving in.  Always with
us, never far from reach.

Danielle found this poem that is totally appropriate.

    A Fisherman’s Prayer
God grant that I may live to fish,
    Until my dying day,
And when it comes to my last cast,
    I then most humbly pray,
When in the Lord’s safe landing net,
    I’m peacefully asleep,
That in his mercy I be judged,
    As big enough to keep.

I only wish we could have kept you longer.

There will never be a day, Chance, when you are not thought of and loved.

With love always.

If you pray, please say one for him today.  I’ll be making a donation to
St. Jude’s in his name as
well.

So yay for Emma at the Oscars.  She looked great.

There is a lot of controversy over
Noah, even disclaimers at the end of some of the TV spots,
because of the environmental themes in the movie.

Some crazy Christians think that God doesn't want the Earth taken care of by humans so they're
flipping out that those "modern" themes were interjected into the bible story.  This report is
from some nice Christians who've actually seen the film.  As usual, it's all blown out of
proportion.

Thanks to Grace Hill Media for sharing the link.  Read the article
here.

And a very special thank you to all of you for the prayers and well-wishes for my family.  It
means a lot.

The premiere of Noah was held in Berlin yesterday.

Here's Emma introducing a new trailer for the film.

For those of you who don't follow our Twitter (which you should because we're very funny),
we've been live tweeting our reading of the new young adult
fantasy book
Grishma.

Today, we have the full
review up for everyone to read.

The book is part one of a series and it makes for a very good
start!
18 March 2014
House of Secrets 2 is out and we are pleased to report we are awaiting our copy in the mail as
we speak.

In the meantime, check out these stories...

Apparently, it's a slow news week because several major newspapers like the
Daily News and Us
Weekly
are reporting that they've just discovered that the Fantastic Beasts movie JK Rowling is
working on will be a trilogy - could've sworn we already knew that...?

And amidst all the strife & controversy,
Noah premiered at Number 1 bringing in $44 million.  It
cost $125 million to make so they've still got a ways to go, but it seems negative press works
almost as well as positive press when releasing a movie.

Read more Rowling here.                                      Read more Noah here.

Good news today that is not a joke or prank, to our knowledge ;), Book 7 of Ridley Pearson's

been revealed to the public, but today the finished book finally
goes on sale.  This one,

I literally was locked out of my computer for a few days, but now I'm back!

Here are a few items we've picked up through social media:

Rupert Grint is in Brussels filming his new movie
Moonwalkers.

The first still from Emma's new movie
Regression (which hits theaters in 2015) has been posted
to imdb.com.

And JK herself made news by giving her two cents in the debate for Scottish independence.  She
wants Scotland to remain within the UK.  People questioned the validity of her comments based
on the fact that she was born & raised in England.  She said questioning a person's lineage was a
little too "Death Eaterish" for her.  HA!

Sending much love to Britain today.  This is the ninth anniversary of the bombings.

On a brighter note, both Emma and Jennifer were at the Christian Dior Fashion Week show
earlier today in Paris.
7 July 2014
Today is the opening of Diagon Alley in Universal Orlando and I am so jealous it hurts!  I just
want to drink a butterbeer and wave a wand around without looking out of place - is that too
much to ask!?  Hope all the lucky rat bastards who are there are having fun and choke on a
chicken finger.  Lol.  Not really.

Rowling wrote a gossip column as Rita Skeeter about Harry, Ron & Hermione and their bad hair
and posted it to Pottermore, you can read the summary
here.

Emma Watson was named
UN Women's Ambassador and will help promote gender equality.

Here are some additional photos from the Dior event (the last three are from the Valli show):

President Snow won best villain at the Teen Choice Awards and the fans have him the three

Emma protested a Turkish minister's idiotic statement about women laughing in public by

So proud of Emma and just wanted to say thank you to her for really standing up and being a

She also just announced on her
Facebook page that she'll be playing Belle in Disney's new
live-action remake of
Beauty and the Beast!  This being one of our most favorite of Disney
movies, we're very excited!  Here are some more articles about it.

Happy Birthday, Danielle!

A very special thank you to our 52 Facebook likers and our 2500 Twitter followers!  You guys
are awesome!

In other nerd news, Felicity Jones (big news this year for playing Mrs. Hawking in The T
heory of
Everything
) has been cast in the lead role in the new Star Wars spin-off movie.  While I'm totally
fine with Brits playing everything, are we no longer hiring American actors for things?

The American pride side of me is annoyed, but then my ears which rather fancy the fancy-pants
British accent is very happy.  Ah me, such a dilemma!
5 February 2015
Some genius on the Internet decided to put together all of Snape's scenes into one chronological
thread.  You can truly see the beauty of his storyline.  Epically sad - so sad it'll make you forget
all about Harry.  Check it out
here.

Another pretty clever blogger made a list of 21 times the Potter book series was smarter than
most people.  You can read that
here.

There's a Hunger Games
Exhibition on its way to NYC this year at the Discovery Times Square
place they had the HP Exhibit.

To promote his new film,
Ghosts of the Pacific/Against the Sun, Tom Felton asked his fans to
take this
Buzzfeed test and tell him how long they'd survive in the wild!

We took it and shockingly got six months - but I think it's really more like six minutes.
16 February 2015
Happy Birthday, James!  Hope you have a very special day today!

Awesome news: We had a tweet favorited by a Tony Award
winning Broadway star!  James Monroe Iglehart, who won for
playing the Genie in
Aladdin, guest starred on an episode of
Gotham.  Andrew spotted him and we tweeted the nerdy news
and Iglehart liked that!  ;)

It may be a little after the fact but I'm still fascinated by this
"what color is the dress" controversy.  Kelly Clarkson tweeted that
she had "magic eyes" because she saw both colors, so instead of
being creeped out since I saw the dress change color right before
my eyes I'm going to say I have very magical eyes!

This is an
article explaining the science behind it.  And below is a
test to figure out how many cones you have in your eyes.
(The cones are what allow you to perceive color.)

Most people (50%) have 3 cones.  Only  25% have 2 and a special quarter have 4 which allows
you to see even more color!  Enlarge the image and count how many bands of color you see.
Don't cheat - count before you check the results below.

Up to 20 = 2 cones
20-32 = 3 cones
33-39 = 4 cones

Tom Felton has made his directorial debut
with a documentary about superfans.  It aired
on BBC Three last night to rave reviews from
fans (and his former co-stars - many of whom
appear in the film).

He's been on Twitter obviously promoting
the heck out of it.

We tweeted him congratulations and
he responded!

We are so idiotically excited and happy about
this that we had to share it with everyone!

Since last night it's been retweeted 6 more
times and favorited 20 more times!

For us, that's viral!

It's called
Tom Felton Meets the Superfans!

Hope everyone had a festive weekend celebrating Easter & Passover!

There is an event in the UK called Red Nose Day.  It's basically a big telethon to raise money for
Comic Relief and a few different charities.  It's become a big deal over the years.  This year
Emma performed in a skit with another HP alum Dawn French (who played the Fat Lady in the
portrait covering the entrance to Gryffindor tower).  One of the twins shared a photo of his
support as well.

It's such a success they're doing one here in America on May 21.  Read more
here.

Also shared on social media was a mini reunion of three Weasleys and a Malfoy!  The three with
sm streams each shared....

You can watch Emma's skit
here (it's about a quarter of the way down the page).

It is our 8th Birthday!  And, no, I cannot believe it's been eight whole years since we started this
site.  It's completely incredible.  As a team we'd like to thank all of you for supporting us
through the years, voting for us, and coming back for more.  Special thanks to Roe and RGW.

This is also the first time in eight years that the celebration post has been late and that was
because Staples had my computer to de-virus-ize it.  :( Hopefully, all is good now. :)

In case you missed it on social media, Josh Gad
- everyone's favorite snowman - posted to his Instagram
account a picture of the cast of
Beauty & the Beast mugging
for a selfie in rehearsals.

Yesterday also happened to a special day for two of the
selfie-ers.  Emma Watson turned 25, Luke Evans (aka: Bard
the Bowman from the
Hobbit, aka: Dracula, aka: Gaston)
turned 36.  Another
Beauty & the Beast cast member -
not pictured - who shared in the birthday festivities was Emma Thompson who will play Mrs.
Potts.

Pictured in front: Josh Gad, Emma Watson, Keven Kline (in back) Dan Stevens (the Beast) &
Luke Evans.

Happy Earth Day!  Here are some tips for how you can be nicer to the Earth.

Other big news:
Stanley Tucci and Ewan MacGregor have been cast in Beauty & the Beast.
Tucci will play a new character 'Cadenza' which is a grand piano and neurotic maestro - as
described by Tucci.  MacGregor will play Lumiere, candlestick extraordinaire and singer of
Be
Our Guest
.

Ian McKellan also showed up to rehearsals in time for the table reading which was apparently a
production in itself.  He described it on Twitter.
22 April 2015
A little late because we were having computer issues (as in, mine hates me), but just wanted to
add our congratulations to the mix about the Royal Baby!  She's adorable and we like adorable! ;)

Buzzfeed wants to know:

Also, Happy belated Mother's Day to all the moms out there (especially ours)! They're the best!

Our hearts go out to Nepal and the people affected by the train derailment in Philadelphia.

It's been a very long time of computer malfunctions, but hopefully all that is behind us and
we're back!

Firstly, we were very saddened to learn of Sir Christopher Lee's passing.  He was a great actor
and will be remembered.  Also crossed franchise lines with roles in
Star Wars and Lord of the
Rings
ensuring two huge fan bases will never let him be forgotten!  Love and prayers to his
family.

In more positive news, we will be learning more about the American school for Witchcraft and
Wizardry in the upcoming
Fantastic Beasts movies.  Not much to read, but you can check out
more
here.

And this is slightly related to
Avengers news, but mostly it's just funny.  Watch the video in the
article.

This post is in honor of my Granny!  Love you, Gran. :)

Here is a list of 36 of the most
burning questions Potter fans still need resolved.  I have to admit,
I have wondered about some of these myself.  (Others are just silly.)

For some reason, You Tube doesn't like to give me links that work anymore so here's the
Mockingjay Trailer:
17 June 2015
JK Rowling announced that she's ready to open her new Harry Potter stage play in London for
next year.  It will be called
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.  She insists it is not a prequel, it is
a story about Harry pre-Hogwarts though.

She gives collaboration credit to Jack Thorne and John Tiffany who worked on this project with
her as a writer and director.

It was confirmed today on the 18th anniversary of the first book being published in the UK.

So Comic Con came and went this year with me wishing I lived near San Diego for the dozenth
time, but luckily for us less fortunate nerds a lot of news has come out of the weekend geek

And just because it's awesome, a view from the top!  US Women's National Team member
Alyssa Naeher shared her view from the float she rode in the NYC Ticker Tape parade!  So
proud of those girls!  They are incredible!!!
17 July 2015

That was epic!! Thank you NYC!! #bestfansintheworld

A video posted by Alyssa Naeher (@alyssanaeher) on

Today is Potter Day!  That's right, it's a day of celebration for JK herself and the one and only
Harry Potter!

To celebrate in our own way, we wear HP t-shirts.  Today, I chose my Hogwarts shirt.  :)

Time Magazine asked 17 Potter alums to write birthday notes to JK.  Some are very sweet,
especially Neville & Luna's.

Pay attention also to each of the Weasley's that participated.  Short & sweet.  All four of them.  I
found it funny because it must "run in the family."  Ha!

Also to celebrate, the
Academy Awards put up a presentation of some archival photos and
articles (like the original casting announcement) on their page - which we tweeted about and
they favorited it!

The Freaking Academy Awards favorited our tweet!!!  So psyched about that!  We'd like to thank
the Academy for all their support. ;)

Ever wonder what it's like to stay in a Harry Potter hotel?  Wonder no more.  There's a regular
muggle hotel in London that caters to aspiring wizards.  It's even hidden from the muggles with
a special entrance.  This idea is so awesome all hotels should have it!

Or they should just make an entire Harry Potter World with a castle hotel and you can choose
your house to stay in so people would come back at least 4 times just to stay in the different
Hogwarts houses.  Someone with money get on this! ;)

There's also a
theory going around the internet and some people are freaking out about it.  I
didn't think it was earth-shattering but it is interesting.  It's related to the story of the Three
Brothers, which is included in the article, and the role Dumbledore plays in it if the brothers
represent Voldie, Snape and Harry.

RGW would like to point out "what a clever little minx JK Rowling is.  What she created is so
complex that it's literally years later and there are still things to say."
=)
11 August 2015
So Disney's annual D23 convention happened in the middle of August and I've been scouring
the internet trying to find anything about it.  Not much is out there because they like to keep
things under wraps for secrecy and mystery.  I get that you want the paying
D23 members to be
the first to see the footage but I don't get the concept of hiding info from the public about things
that will be released to the public in a matter of months anyway... They just stink like that.

Here's what I did find: Disney is building
Star Wars theme parks or at least 'lands' within their
parks and they had
Beauty & the Beast footage (but that's also hidden from us because they
suck).  Here's
Emma's intro and the concept art for the Star Wars parks (as well as the first cast
photo of
Rogue One - the stand-alone Star Wars movie).  If anyone has anymore info or footage,
tweet me!
10 September 2015
Emma photobombed co-stars Tom Hanks and Patton Oswalt!  See if you can spot her in the
back. lolz

They are currently filming

Happy Granger Day!!!

Today is Hermione Granger's birthday and to honor
that I hereby give orders to all Potter fans to give a great
big Hermione-style bear hug to the smartest person they know!

If there are other people in the room, you might not want
to announce that you think this one is smarter than the others. ;)

Little game for you today to celebrate: go see if you
can
match the Potter book to its last line.  I tried and it's
harder than you think!

Happy, happy, happy Granger Day to you!
19 September 2015
Firstly, I find it funny that the rest of the world is either just coming realize or is just
continuously surprised that Emma Watson is an awesome person.  Us Potter fans have known
this fact since the girl was 10.

Anyway,
Buzzfeed posted that Emma is a woman of her word and is striving all the time to
make the world a more equal place.

Still have questions even after the Potter series ended?  You're not the only one.  RGW says, "All
good points."  What do you think?

I've posted the review of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on another page to try to not spoil it for
everyone.  If you continue reading without having seen it first, the whole thing will be ruined
for you.

Total spoilage.  I'm not kidding.  I reveal basically the whole movie and the things I hint at, if
you know anything about the series, you'll probably be able to figure it out easily.

Don't read any further.  This is your last warning!

Sad news today.  To say we were all shocked by the news is an understatement.

Though I only got to know him slightly from his work I know that he was a good man and a
good friend.  His career will long be remembered but his life, heart & generosity will live on as
well with all those lives he touched.

All of our thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and his extended acting family.  How
blessed a life to be so loved by so many.  May the warm thoughts and wished kindnesses give
his family solace during this time.

Thank you, Mr. Rickman.  Thank you for all the joy, smiles & sternness.  Thank you for
Snape...and Die Hard and everything else.  Thank you for overcoming a childhood stutter to
reach that iconic diction.  Thank you for sharing your life with us.  We have been truly blessed.
14 January 2016
So it's Superhero Week which means that all the comic book shows are back or premiering this
week.  That's right, this week it'll be Supergirl on Monday, The Flash and Agent Carter on
Tuesday, Arrow on Wednesday and the launch of Legends of Tomorrow on Thursday.

And we've decided to watch all the shows and then rate them.  :)

First up,
Supergirl:
RGW: While I liked how much Winn was in this episode, I'm gonna need a scientist to confirm
that 99% of that episode was utterly unrealistic. I'm giving it a 6 out of 10.
Ril: I really liked Winn's beefed up role. I liked that they gave him a complex background and
the reasoning why he finally said something to Cara. I liked that they made him a complex full
character. I think it was one of their best episodes so far. I'd give it an 8 out of 10.
RGW: Ugh, I sooo agree with you. I just can't get past unrealism (is that a word?). Why wouldn't
they have police protection on Winn the whole time? Would she really not be able to get out of
quicksand, she's freaking Supergirl? And I don't think there's anyway an ice wall would have
protected them all from an explosion. I'm literally the worst because I can't get past that stuff.
Ril: It's good you're so detailed. Supergirl doesn't bother me as much. I'm much more irritated
by time and inter-dimensional travel. ;)
RGW: Thank you for saying detailed and not insane. ;) Agreed. Legends of Tomorrow is going
to be the worst.

B&W Average Rating: 7 Wands

The Flash and Agent Carter up next!
19 January 2016
First up, The Flash: (Spoilers...duh ;)
Ril: I feel I need to warn you that I lose my patience with this show just about every week.
RGW: I was gonna say The Flash wasn't so bad. It did make me mad that he kept acting like he
couldn't tell her, even when she was getting angrier. Like he made the decision to tell her then
hesitated like nine times. Either tell her or don't.
Ril: And wouldn't it have been easier to have knocked the Turtle out with like a concussion
grenade and then run fast?  Why run away just to run back really fast to get slowed down
again?
Running really fast doesn't solve every problem.
RGW: I mean, seriously. They kept going after this guy with no plan how to stop him. They just
kept going to like witness him do the next thing.
Ril: Exactly! Don't learn from what just happened just keep doing the exact same thing.
RGW: These shows are not bad. They're frustrating because they are so close to being great
except for a handful of inconsistencies & stupidities. I give The Flash a 5 because they'll always
lose points for not explaining how Eddie's death didn't erase Eobard and then all of Season 1.

Agent Carter:
RGW: I only got to see the first hour of Agent Carter but I didn't hate it! I was gonna say 7 out of
10 so far.
Ril: I was really disappointed by Agent Carter. I think if they showed this last year it wouldn't
have gotten a Season Two. It was disconnected to what made these characters and the storyline
great. The storyline was disjointed. Setting it in LA makes it silly in a way that it wasn't last year
for some reason. And I just didn't care about the plot.
RGW: It was bothering me that they half kept going with last year's storyline and half started a
new one, hence the 7, but I really like the characters on this show it was nice to see them all
again.
Ril: I like Carter (& Atwell) & Jarvis and last season enough to give it the benefit of the doubt,
but it still gets a 5.

B&W Average Rating:  The Flash = 4 Wands                                Agent Carter = 6 Wands

Arrow up next!
20 January 2016
Review for Arrow: (Much spoilers.)

RGW: Another 6 out of 10. It wasn't bad. Just depressing.
Ril: Yeah, it's like they always have to remind you that they kill people on this show.
RGW: I get the darker tone. He's a darker hero. I don't hate it, but don't claim to be lighter this
year.
Ril: Maybe they don't know what light means. ;) Where I'm happy it's not Felicity, I also kind of
knew it wasn't her grave. If it is her mother, that might be worse...can't anyone's parents survive
this show? It's like a thing with them. I worry about the writers' family lives.
RGW: The producer said "and didn't you notice her fingers were empty?" Meaning in this future
funeral they are broken up. I wonder if it's over the whole kid thing.
Ril: Yeah, that's weird though. Let me be in the kid's life occasionally when I feel like it...unless
it's the kid in the grave...or his mother... I just made the show way more horrible! I take it back!
RGW: HAHAHAHAHAHA oh man! That is horrible but Arrow may actually do something like
that.
Ril: I took points for the characters being locked into inaction, not really advancing the plot
except for a few clues at the very end & for Oliver being everywhere but at Felicity's side.

B&W Average Rating: 5 Wands

The Legends of Tomorrow up next!
21 January 2016
Review for The Legends of Tomorrow: (Some spoiliage.)

Ril: I thought I would absolutely hate this because I absolutely hate time travel...but I didn't...
It's actually well done time travel. How is this possible? I must be sick.
RGW: Like the Back to the Future kind. It's better time travel because it's not changing the past,
it's going forward. Which for some reason is better.
Ril: Yeah. I'm almost upset that I liked it. Maybe my expectations were just so low anything
would be impressive.
RGW: Ugh, though, New Amsterdam, Forever & Second Chance have all done the "born again
so they are friends with their kid even though they are younger than their kid" thing. A bit of a
copycat.
Ril: It's like a time travel/immortal story staple. ;) It's actually funny & has a good balance of
light & dark.
RGW: I'm laughing too. Crazy talk.
Ril: Why was it listed as Part 1 when it had a pretty good ending? It's sort of like "now let's start
our great adventure so we'll pick up next week" but still feels like an ending. But, my Lord, that
might actually be my biggest complaint?!!!? How is this possible? What kind of unholy alliance
has brought this to pass?
RGW: HAHAHAHAHAHA! I have to give it a 7, it's gotta lose points for being about time travel
and I would love it more if it was only gonna be 8 episodes like Agent Carter. And also you're
welcome because I said we had to watch it. ;)
Ril: Ok. Fine, fine. You were right. But this was only the first episode. I liked episode one of the
Flash too & now look what's happened. I actually feel bad for rating it so low now.

B&W Average Rating: 7 Wands

    Agent Carter:         6 Wands
    Arrow:                    5 Wands
    The Flash:               4 Wands

So far this week the shows have ranked:
    Arrow:                     8 Wands*

Happy Birthday to Emma Watson!
Happy Birthday to Emma Thompson!
Happy Birthday to US!!! We're nine!

It's been an amazing ride and we'd like to thank all of you for sticking with us, we'd be nothing
without you.  A note on updates for the site: for whatever reason our hosting company sold all
their hosting clients to a foreign company that has made the switch overly complicated and
we're currently in the process of moving to a new new host. But as this is a 9 year old site, it's
big and it's going to take some time, so my apologies.  Follow us on Twitter & Facebook for
more recent posts as we hope for better things at our new home.

In celebration, here's some highlights from the HP Celebration weekend for you!

With love from the entire team!

fruition now than ever before. So check back for a totally new look! For the latest, follow us on
