In celebration of our First Birthday, I present you with the screenplay of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Bear in mind, this is in no way affiliated with Warner Bros. It is not the official script of the movies to be released in 2010 nor have I been privilege to such documents. And I most certainly did not make any profit from this work.
This is merely a fan's scripted version of the events in the book. It is, in fact, mostly JK Rowling with a little bit of me sprinkled around. I took as much from her as I could, much of the camera direction and dialogue is lifted directly from the text.
I did change certain things, however. Some events/people were cut out due to length and relevance. The major changes I have made were to clean up some of the indiscrepancies I've noticed.
They are more like gentle nudges. They are what I felt was true to the characters without insulting or making fun or them.
I did not change anything radically, so there should be no fear of this turning into the Delusional's version of the book. I kept with the narrative, breaking only when I felt characters were being mangled or assassinated.
I'm sorry, but you cannot justify to me in any way, shape or form, no matter the excuse, that after seven years of friendship and going to hell and back with a person you wouldn't show the slightest bit of concern for their well-being. That being said, you can understand then something like Harry's throwing some blankets at Hermione when she is clearly distraught is something that had to change.
And so go the other changes. I sought to make the characters (namely Ginny) more vulnerable and likeable as opposed to a harlot. I tried to make clear their choices and explain the parts I found confusing upon first reading.
Those of you new to the format may be taken aback. What you see is the standard format of a screenplay for a movie. This is what Hollywood looks at when producing movies.
There are a few terms you should know:
V.O. = Voice Over O.S. = Off Screen O.C. = Off Camera CONT'D = Continued
A parenthetical denotes how or to whom a line should be read.
